Brigadier Yudhvir Suri
Academician, Researcher, Cardiovascular and thoracic anesthesiology critical care clinician; served Armed forces Army Medical corps India (1968-2002).
Birgadier Yudhvir Suri was a military doctor, Army Medical Corps, Armed forces India, born in Lahore pre-partition India on 07 April 1945. He graduated medicine from govermanent medical collage Srinagar Kashmir in 1967 and decided to join Armed forces medical Services India in January 1968. He served the soldiers as Regimental Medical officer during 1971, India – Pakistan war at chhamb-Jaurien western border of Jammu-Kashmir. He volunteered his choice speciality of medicine Anesthesia at Armed forces Medical college Pune 1972. He qualified Armed forces Board Examination with strenuous training at AFMC and command hospital, lucknow as a “graded” specialist of Army Medical corps, Armed forces India in 1974 and doctorate medicine Anesthesiology (MD Anesthesiology) from Pune University in 1975 Graded specialist, Armed forces medical service has the system of training the medical graduates to various disciplines of medicine that is needed to serve the soldiers with standard curriculam education and examination, Board of examiners certify the candidate as a “graded specialist” who can administer the specialist to the soldiers, even without university diploma or degree. It fullfills the needs of the Armed forces India and acceptable to Medical council of India, the standards of Medical Education.
Brigadier Yudhvir Suri served military soldiers during war and peace at various military hospitals and simultaneously participated educational “forums in civil teaching medical institutes, discussions and conferences, as a result he became a recognised personality of Anesthesiology. He published more than 200 research papers in reputed medical Journals to identify himself as an academician of medical field. His experimental animals research on short- acting non-depolarising muscle-relaxant chandonium, iodide alongwith professor (Dr) BN Dhawan scientist director at Central Drug Research Institute Lucknow India, till the final human phase III and phase IV clinical trials, has placed him as aclaimed Medical Research Scientist. He was granted Doctorate of philosophy in Medicine (Anesthesiology) Phd under the guidance of well known medical teacher Prof. AM Deshpande of B J medical college Pune, by the university of Pune Maharashtra in 1994. He is honoured by military and civil societies. Anesthesiology bestowed respect honour and dignity to his life. Post-retirement he settled at Gurugram (12, 2017) Contributed writing and publishing religious, socio-economic, socio-political, concerns of the soldier and military medicine.
